Job summary

Mayville Engineering Company, Inc. is seeking a 2nd shift Material Handler to support production by moving materials between departments, sorting questionable items, and ensuring timely processing of goods on a fast-paced plant floor.

You will print and distribute pick tickets, perform basic computer transactions, and help with Continuous Improvement projects. A High School diploma and at least one year of related experience are preferred; forklift certification is a plus.

Qualifications

  • High School education required.
  • One year of relevant experience and/or training preferred.
  • Forklift certification a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate material movement between departments per routing requirements.
  • Sort questionable materials per Quality Control's request.
  • Print and distribute pick tickets and perform computer transactions as necessary.
  • Organize sequence of pulling material and relay information to Material Support.
  • Ensure production schedules are met by timely and accurate processing and movement of goods.
  • Assist during daily peak times, operate material handling equipment, and perform computer transactions.
  • Maintain communication with management, shift teams, and cross-shifts.
  • Support Continuous Improvement projects and assist with equipment evaluation and training needs.
  • Monitor and enforce shop floor control systems.
  • Follow safety procedures and wear PPE.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and propose changes to Materials Manager.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Responsibilities - 2nd shift


  • Coordinates material movement between departments per routing requirements.

  • Sorts questionable materials per Quality Control's request.

  • Prints and distributes pick tickets and performs computer transactions as necessary.

  • Organizes sequence of pulling material and relays information to Material Support.

  • Ensures production schedules are met by timely and accurate processing and movement of goods. Assists during daily peak times to include operating material handling equipment and perform all necessary computer transactions.

  • Ensures good communication and feedback with management, employees on their shift, and between shifts.

  • When assigned, assists the supervisor/area manager with Continuous Improvement Projects, evaluation of new equipment, determination of training needs and interviewing/hiring.

  • Monitors and enforces shop floor control systems.

  • Follows all safety procedures, wears proper PPE. Proactively identifies and corrects unsafe conditions.

  • Studies systems and procedures for opportunities for improvement. Proposes changes to Materials Manager.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Physical Demands and Work Environment


  • Some physical demand, often lifts light to heavy-weight material. Frequent lifting/moving average weight (up to 50 lbs/11-27 kgs) material.

  • Ability to perform occasional to frequent pushing, pulling, bending, kneeling, twisting, crawling and/or reaching over a full work shift (8-12 hours).

  • Ability to operate motorized vehicles over a full work shift (8-12 hours).

  • Ability to stand and / or walk constantly over a full work shift on concrete (8-12 hours).

  • May be exposed to noise levels for which hearing protection must be worn over a full work shift (8-12 hours).

Experience


  • *One year of relevant experience and/or training preferred.

  • *Forklift Certification a plus.
