Job summary

Aerotek is hiring a Material Handler in Stafford, TX, to support a busy manufacturing operation. The role combines forklift operation with ERP-based inventory management, shipping/receiving duties, and material staging for production and distribution.

You'll work first shift on-site, using sit-down propane, Bendi, and Combilift forklifts, with a focus on accuracy and safety. Benefits are available, and this is a contract-to-hire opportunity based in Stafford.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years material handling experience in a manufacturing setting.
  • Experience operating sit-down propane forklifts in warehouse or production environments.
  • Experience with ERP systems for inventory management.
  • Proven ability to create domestic and international shipping labels.
  • Experience with shipping/receiving processes in manufacturing or warehouse settings.
  • Ability to organize materials/work areas with minimal supervision.
  • Familiarity with RF scanners and warehouse practices.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in inventory/shipping records.

Material Handler

The material handler plays a key role in supporting a busy manufacturing operation by safely moving, organizing, and tracking pipe, valves, metal components, and related materials. This position combines hands-on forklift operation with inventory management using an ERP system, ensuring accurate shipping and receiving documentation and efficient flow of materials through the warehouse and production areas.

Responsibilities
  • Move manufactured materials, including pipe, valves, metal components, and pallets, by hand and using forklifts.
  • Operate sit-down propane forklifts, Bendi forklifts, and Combilift forklifts to transport materials safely and efficiently within the facility.
  • Use a custom ERP system to document shipping and receiving activities, including entering inventory transactions and updating material status.
  • Create and print domestic and international shipping labels accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Organize products in the warehouse to maintain clear, logical storage locations and ensure easy access for production and distribution.
  • Perform inventory management tasks, including counting, tracking, and verifying materials in coordination with ERP records.
  • Use RF scanners or similar warehouse management tools to support accurate inventory and material movement tracking.
  • Act independently in day-to-day tasks, making sound decisions regarding material handling priorities and workflow.
  • Support both assembly/fabrication and warehouse distribution areas by ensuring materials are staged and delivered as needed.
  • Follow all safety procedures and use required personal protective equipment while working in the manufacturing environment.
  • Collaborate with shop employees such as CNC machinists, QC technicians, trainers, assemblers, and machine operators to meet production and shipping timelines.
Essential Skills
  • At least 3 years of material handling and inventory experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Proven experience operating sit-down propane forklifts in a warehouse or production setting.
  • Hands-on experience with inventory management using ERP systems, such as Oracle, SAP, or similar platforms.
  • Demonstrated ability to create and manage domestic and international shipping labels.
  • Experience with shipping and receiving processes in a warehouse or manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to organize materials and work areas effectively and act autonomously with minimal supervision.
  • Familiarity with RF scanners and warehouse management practices.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in documenting inventory and shipping information.
  • Capability to work safely in a manufacturing environment and handle metal materials and industrial products.

Work Environment

This role is based in a clean manufacturing facility that includes both assembly and fabrication areas as well as a warehouse distribution side. The environment is non-climate-controlled, but large fans help maintain air circulation throughout the shop. The team consists of approximately 12 shop employees with skill sets that include CNC machining, quality control, training, assembly, and machine operation, creating a collaborative and skilled workforce. The standard schedule is first shift, Monday through Friday, from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with overtime and occasional weekend work possible depending on production needs and specific projects. Required attire includes steel-toe footwear, jeans, a work shirt, safety glasses, and a high-visibility vest, reflecting the emphasis on safety and professionalism in the facility.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Stafford, TX.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $22.50/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
