Job summary

Challenge Manufacturing in Spartanburg, SC is seeking a 2nd shift forklift operator to move and stage materials, load and unload, and support lean manufacturing processes. You will operate propane or electric forklifts, perform basic weight checks, maintain safe work practices, and assist with inventory as needed.

A high school diploma or GED is required, English literacy, and prior material handling experience preferred.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
  • One month related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Previous material handling work experience preferred.
  • Previous HiLo driving experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Observes and complies with safety, environmental, regulatory, and statutory requirements.
  • Participates in needs analysis and required training programs.
  • Supports independent auditing and continuous improvement activities.
  • Stops work when material or process is suspect to prevent rework.
  • Operates forklift: moves levers, controls lifting device, and transports loads.
  • Positions forks and lifting device under pallets, skids, or materials.
  • Loads/unloads materials onto pallets and transports them to designated areas.
  • Unloads and stacks material; inventories on the work floor; provides materials as needed.
  • Weighs materials and records weight on labels or schedules.
  • Recharges batteries or replaces liquefied gas tanks.

Ensure that inventory levels are accurate and maintained.
