Job summary

Staffmark in Chicago, IL is seeking a Material Handler to move, stage, load, unload, organize, and transport materials across the warehouse and manufacturing floor. You will verify inventory and locations, and prep materials for production or shipment while maintaining accuracy and safety.

The role offers a Monday–Friday schedule (7:00 AM–3:30 PM) with an hourly pay rate of $20.00. Candidates should have basic computer skills and forklift experience preferred, with potential certification

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Receive, inspect, count, weigh, and verify incoming and outgoing shipments against purchase orders, bills of lading, and shipping records.
• Pack, label, crate, and prepare products for shipment using approved packaging methods and materials.
• Unload incoming deliveries, inspect for damage or shortages, and process receipts in inventory systems.
• Route materials to appropriate departments and maintain accurate inventory records.
• Determine shipping methods and ensure all outbound shipments meet customer and company specifications.
• Operate forklifts and material-handling equipment to transport products throughout the facility.
• Maintain inventory of shipping supplies and support warehouse organization through 5S and continuous improvement practices.
• Follow all safety, quality, and operational procedures to support on-time delivery and customer satisfaction.

Experience Requirements

• 1+ years of warehouse, shipping, receiving, material handling, or logistics experience preferred.
• Experience operating forklifts, pallet jacks, hand trucks, or material-moving equipment.
• Familiarity with inventory control systems, shipping documentation, and receiving processes.

Preferred Qualifications

• Forklift certification or ability to become certified.
• Experience using ERP or warehouse management systems such as Oracle.
• Strong attention to detail, organization, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced warehouse environment.

Physical Capabilities

• Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials throughout the shift.
• Frequent standing, walking, bending, reaching, and moving inventory.
• Ability to safely operate powered industrial equipment and work in a warehouse environment.
