Job summary

General Dynamics Electric Boat seeks a Material Coordinator in Seekonk, MA to support new construction of VCS and CLB products. You will manage material control and support functions, coordinate with EB sites and government personnel, and contribute to safety, quality, cost, and schedule goals.

The role requires lifting up to 40 pounds, travel, overtime, and strong communication skills to work with cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED.
• 1+ years of warehousing and/or material handling experience.
• Business and EWA travel to other shipyards/strategic partner locations is required
• Required to work other than normal duty hours, to include shift work, evenings, weekends, and/or holidays
• 1+ year of industrial marine environment experience
• Vocational, Technical and Community Colleges or Apprentice programs
• Military service
• Welding and Fitting experience in maritime environment

Responsibilities

• Receive, identify, locate, and retrieve materials
• Must possess an energetic and positive attitude and be willing to change and develop as requirements of assigned tasks dictate
• May be required to physically lift items, up to 40 pounds.
• Must be prepared to travel and work overtime as required
• May be required to travel to different EB sites or Shipyards and must be prepared to work any shift that may be required
• Contribute to site improvement goals in Safety, Quality, Cost, Schedule, and Continuous Improvement.
• Must have knowledge of safe work practices; ability to comprehend and follow or issue verbal and /or written instructions; willing to work as necessary to support production needs
• Must be able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with subordinates and supervisors
• Responsible for material segregation, creating shipping documents and communicating to downstream consumers on expected ship dates
• Collaborate with site leadership to ensure readiness for inspections and audits
