Job Summary

Performs complex repair or construction of university facilities or property requiring specialized training in a skilled trade (Automobile Technician). Works second shift Monday through Friday, 3:30pm to 11:30pm.

Essential Duties

• Reviews job orders, inspects site and consults with client; determines best method to complete project.
• Estimates amount of materials and equipment needed; prepares cost estimates and arranges for materials to be at job site.
• Performs complex repair or installation on University facilities equipment using expertise acquired through specialized automotive/mechanic training.
• Serves as informational resource to other staff.
• Maintains and cleans tools and equipment; keeps work area clean and orderly.
• May serve as liaison to outside contractors and other departments; may prepare some paperwork; may maintain some files.

Minimum Qualifications

• Requires nine months training beyond high school in a skilled trade and three years of experience in that trade, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Driver's license required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Knowledge of the procedures and equipment of a particular skilled trade.
• Mechanical aptitude.
• Ability to read and understand blueprints and/or mechanical diagrams.
