GENERAL SUMMARY & SCOPE

The Master Stylist engages with guests, consults on hair care needs, and recommends products and services. They deliver quality professional services focused on the guest's overall look, support the Experience Manager (SM) and Assistant Services Manager (ASM), and prioritize performance, guest service, and compliance with procedures. A passion for the beauty industry, excellent guest service skills, and the ability to learn product knowledge are essential.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES (*Essential Functions)

The Master Stylist exemplifies Ulta Beauty’s mission, vision, and values through the following duties and responsibilities:

Performance

• Perform hair services such as design, cuts, color, treatments, styling, updos, perms, blowouts, keratin treatments, extensions, makeup applications, and ear piercing (where applicable).
• Achieve or surpass a weekly sales goal of $1250 through exceptional guest service and contribute to store goals related to retail and service sales, guest loyalty, and retail shrinkage.
• Conduct product demonstrations to enhance sales and guest experience.
• Support in-store events, promotions, and marketing initiatives to provide outstanding guest experiences.
• Stay informed about industry trends, products, and services, and communicate their benefits to guests.
• Maintain consistent attendance.

People

• Develop strong guest relationships through consultations and tailored recommendations.
• Serve all guests efficiently, including walk-ins.
• Collaborate with skin therapists and retail teams for comprehensive guest service.
• Build professional relationships with peers and brand partners to deliver exceptional guest experiences.
• Promote the guest loyalty program, including credit and the Ulta Beauty app.
• Attend mandatory training and meetings for ongoing professional development.

Process

• Ensure compliance with Ulta Beauty’s policies, procedures, and standards.
• Follow safety, sanitation, and infection control protocols, adhering to state guidelines.
• Follow service protocols to ensure consistent, high-quality guest experiences.
• Use booking and client management systems effectively.
• Report supply needs to the Experience Manager to ensure guest readiness.
• Maintain cleanliness and operational standards in the store.
• Adhere to the dress code.
• Follow loss prevention practices and provide excellent guest service.
• Perform other operational tasks as assigned.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Education

• Cosmetology license

• Competence with equipment and chemicals used in technical work.
