GENERAL SUMMARY & SCOPE

The Master Stylist engages with guests, consults on hair care needs, and recommends products and services. They deliver quality professional services focused on the guest’s overall look, support the Experience Manager (SM) and Assistant Services Manager (ASM), and emphasize performance, guest service, and adherence to operating procedures. A passion for the beauty industry, excellent guest service, and product knowledge are essential.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES (*Essential Functions)

The Master Stylist champions Ulta Beauty’s mission, vision, and values through the following duties and additional projects:

Performance

• Perform a variety of hair services, including design, cuts, color, treatments, styling, updos, perms, blowouts, keratin treatments, extensions, makeup, and ear piercing (if applicable).
• Achieve or surpass a weekly sales goal of $1250 and meet productivity targets by delivering exceptional guest service and contributing to retail and service sales, guest loyalty, and retail shrink goals.
• Demonstrate products to guests to enhance sales and service experience.
• Support in-store events, promotions, and marketing initiatives to enhance guest experience.
• Stay informed about industry trends, products, and services, and communicate their benefits to guests.
• Maintain consistent attendance.

People

• Build guest relationships through consultations and tailored recommendations.
• Serve all guests promptly and efficiently, including walk-ins.
• Collaborate with skin therapists and retail teams for a comprehensive guest experience.
• Establish professional relationships with peers and brand partners to deliver exceptional service.
• Promote the guest loyalty program, including credit and the Ulta Beauty app.
• Attend mandatory training and meetings for ongoing professional development.

Process

• Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and standards.
• Follow safety, sanitation, and infection control protocols, adhering to state guidelines.
• Follow established service protocols for a consistent guest experience.
• Use booking and client management systems effectively.
• Communicate supply needs to the Experience Manager.
• Maintain store cleanliness and operational standards.
• Adhere to the Ulta Beauty dress code.
• Protect assets through loss prevention practices and excellent guest service.
• Perform other operational tasks as assigned.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Education

• Cosmetology license required.

Experience

• Relevant prior work experience required.

Skills

• Proficiency in latest salon techniques across services and aptitude to develop skills.
• Proficiency with salon equipment and chemicals.
• Ability to demonstrate, recommend, and sell professional hair care and makeup products.
• Strong communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively.

The pay range is $14.81 - $20.20/hour or service-based pay, depending on various factors.
