GENERAL SUMMARY & SCOPE

The Master Stylist engages with guests, consulting on hair care needs, recommending products and services, and delivering quality professional services focused on the guest’s total look. They support the Experience Manager and Assistant Services Manager through performance, people, and process excellence. A passion for the beauty industry, exceptional guest service, and product knowledge are essential.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

The Master Stylist demonstrates Ulta Beauty’s mission, vision, and values through:

Performance

• Performing hair services such as design, cuts, color, treatments, styling, updos, perms, blowouts, keratin treatments, extensions, makeup, and ear piercing.
• Achieving or exceeding a weekly sales goal of $1250 through exceptional guest service and contributing to retail and service sales, guest loyalty, and retail shrink goals.
• Conducting product demonstrations to drive sales and enhance guest experience.
• Supporting in-store events, promotions, and marketing initiatives.
• Staying informed about industry trends, products, and services, and understanding their ingredients and benefits.
• Maintaining prompt and regular attendance.

People

• Developing guest relationships through consultations and recommendations.
• Serving all guests efficiently, including walk-ins.
• Collaborating with skin therapists and retail teams for a comprehensive guest experience.
• Building professional relationships with peers and brand partners.
• Promoting the guest loyalty program and app.
• Attending mandatory training and meetings for professional development.

Process

• Ensuring compliance with company policies, procedures, and standards.
• Following safety, sanitation, and infection control protocols, adhering to state guidelines.
• Following service protocols for a consistent guest experience.
• Using booking and clientele systems effectively.
• Communicating supply needs to the Experience Manager.
• Maintaining cleanliness and operational standards in the store.
• Adhering to the dress code and loss prevention practices.
• Executing other operational tasks as assigned.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Cosmetology license

Experience: Relevant work experience required

Skills:

• Proficiency in salon techniques and ability to develop skills across services.
• Knowledge of equipment and chemicals used in services.
• Ability to demonstrate and sell hair care and makeup products.
• Strong communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.
• Ability to build and maintain client relationships.

SPECIAL POSITION REQUIREMENTS

• Flexible schedule including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

WORKING CONDITIONS

• Continuous mobility, lifting up to 10 lbs., bending, reaching, twisting, and standing for long periods.
• Coordination and manipulation of objects during shift.
