Overview

Are you motivated and eager to grow your career in refrigeration? Hussmann’s team of Technicians maintain, diagnose, and repair HVAC/R in supermarkets, convenience stores, and cold storage facilities.

Responsibilities

• Perform prescribed, routine maintenance on supermarket refrigeration systems and self-contained temperature-controlled merchandisers.
• Partner with other technicians for start-up of new refrigeration equipment.
• Resolve customer warranty issues rapidly and accurately, understanding how workplace efficiencies impact company profitability.
• Mentor other technicians and teach classes on HVAC/R processes, diagnostics, and parts.
• Match customer needs with sales opportunities and assist in providing estimates for service and repair jobs.
• Complete work tickets, timesheets, and electronic communication accurately and professionally.
• Manage truck inventory responsibly, order and maintain parts, and keep the vehicle in good condition.
• Demonstrate knowledge of electrical and mechanical repairs, HVAC maintenance, EMS programming, troubleshooting, and complex wiring diagrams.
• Troubleshoot and repair complex service calls.
• Understand compressor parameters, oil systems, refrigeration startup, EMS controls, CO2 refrigeration, and advanced wiring diagrams.
• Perform refrigerant and oil conversions.
• Additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education: High School Diploma/GED required; HVAC-R Technical School Degree preferred.

Experience: External candidates need 10 years in the field or 7 years with technical certification; internal candidates require 7 years of experience with OJT and skills assessment.

Additional Requirements

• Valid Driver’s License and safe driving record.
• Physical ability to walk, crouch, climb ladders, work at heights, and lift up to 50 pounds.
• Excellent communication skills, mechanical aptitude, and ability to work nights/weekends.
• Knowledge of refrigeration and HVAC preferred; EPA 608 Universal Certification required.
• Strong decision-making and paperwork skills.
