Job summary

Lutheran Social Services of Illinois (LSSI) is hiring a full-time Masters Child Welfare Specialist to provide foster care and adoption services to children and families in Illinois, within state mandates and COA standards.

The role involves case management, reporting, and collaboration with schools and healthcare providers to safeguard children’s well-being, with required licenses and ongoing training.

Qualifications

• Requires Bachelor’s degree in social work or related field.
• Minimum of 1 year of related experience.
• State licensing/certification as required by Illinois DCFS.
• CWEL or ability to obtain required.
• CERAP required.
• Training in KEEP and/or GenerationsPMTO or availability to participate in training.
• CCS Bootcamp completion.
• Client-Centered Service Planning and Aftercare Training.
• Demonstrated ability to motivate families and foster parents.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Access to reliable transportation.
• Valid IL driver's license in good standing.

Responsibilities

• Complete and submit all reports, documentation, and billing accurately and timely.
• Participate in supervisory process for guidance and approval of decision making and service planning.
• Coordinate with schools, healthcare facilities, and other providers to promote child well-being.
• Assess family service needs and link to community resources.
• Ensure child safety and well-being during service delivery.
• Provide strength-based case management to resolve challenges impacting children.
• Advocate with medical or government institutions.
