Job summary

Eastern Shipbuilding Group, Inc. is seeking an experienced Boat Captain to lead a vessel operations team.

You will operate and navigate the vessel safely, ensure compliance with maritime laws, supervise crew, conduct safety drills, monitor weather, and maintain voyage logs. The ideal candidate holds a Captain's license (STCW), 5+ years as a sea trial captain, and strong leadership, with expertise in ECDIS and modern navigation technologies.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED equivalence plus three or more years of experience as a sea trial captain.
  • STCW Certification and possession of a valid captain's license.
  • TWIC card preferred and deep knowledge of maritime regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and navigate the vessel safely and efficiently.
  • Supervise and manage ship crew; lead sea trials.
  • Conduct regular safety checks and drills; monitor weather conditions.
  • Maintain detailed voyage logs and records.
  • Coordinate loading/unloading and communicate with port authorities.
