Job summary

Massachusetts Maritime Academy seeks an experienced Captain responsible for the safe operation, maintenance, and overall condition of the vessel, and for the safety of all aboard. You will supervise the crew and direct day-to-day operations.

You will ensure proper manning, training, compliance with USCG and company policies, perform safety drills, and maintain voyage records using Wheel-House Software. Candidates must hold a 100-Ton Master Inland or higher license, TWIC, First Aid/CPR, Marine

Qualifications

• Valid 100-TON Master Inland or higher license.
• TWIC, First Aid/CPR, and Marine Radio Operator Permit.
• Detail oriented with strong situational awareness.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Act as onboard manager and representative of the company.
• Ensure safe operation, navigation, and passenger safety.
• Mann vessel per COI and conduct accurate passenger counts.
• Train crew and ensure compliance with USCG, federal and state laws.
• Report accidents and maintain timely documentation.
• Maintain vessel appearance and perform preventative maintenance.
• Conduct safety drills and security drills; log results.
• Lead daily job briefings and supervise crew behavior.
• Maintain logs and use Wheel-House Software.
• Ensure compliance with Emergency Response Plan.
