Job summary

Aptar in Cary, IL is seeking a Master Machinist to design and develop mechanisms for Toolroom projects, working independently to repair assembly machinery and produce spare parts for equipment. The role includes training new machinists, leading work areas, and collaborating with production teams on prototypes and tooling, using precision machining to close tolerances and sketch parts as needed.

Qualifications

• Close tolerances ±0.0005 in machining using conventional toolkit.
• Experience with ferrous, non-ferrous and alloys.
• CNC mill/lathe operation and/or setup preferred.
• Welding experience required.
• Ability to design and draft sketches of parts.
• Collaborate with production on prototypes and tooling.
• Able to lift up to 50 pounds and stand through shift.

Responsibilities

• Conceptualize, design and develop mechanisms for Toolroom projects.
• Repair assembly machinery and components for Manufacturing.
• Produce spare parts for assembly equipment.
• Assist departments with prototype and tooling development.
• Perform custom and repair machining of plant equipment.
• May perform mechanical drawings.
• May lead and/or instruct machinists on projects.
• Train and orient new machinists.
• Act as team/work area leader to support the team concept.
