Job summary

Global Experience Specialists, Inc in Alden, IL seeks a Marshalling Yard Representative to support the efficient movement of freight for large venues. You will input freight data into Core Freight to generate inbound and outbound records, helping build accurate show histories.

Responsibilities include dispatching trucks, performing freight audits, and processing billing transfers. You will work with multiple managers and crew on site, often in a busy, noisy environment with extended hours.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Two to three years in a customer service environment.
  • Two to three years of experience in the convention industry highly preferred.
  • Must be able to work extended hours including weekends and evenings.
  • Ability to work in fast-paced environment with little supervision.

  • Outbound show site data entry.
  • Dispatch trucks to show venue.
  • Perform freight audits/prior year drayage comparisons.
  • Perform billing transfers.
  • Run Core Freight reports during and after show.
  • Support other Freight Operations Staff as needed.
  • Keep Managers informed on all issues.
  • Assist with freight inquiries.

Job description

The Marshalling Yard Representative performs pertinent duties including scaling freight trucks, entering necessary exhibitor information into data base to create inbound and outbound show history, controlling carrier traffic to and from venues, and capturing revenue through freight billing. This role is important to the business to ensure the efficient move-in and move-out of all freight in larger venues and to ensure all possible freight revenue is captured and billed appropriately.

Responsibilities:
  • Input freight information into Core Freight to create receiving reports and outbound driver records
  • Outbound show site data entry
  • Dispatch trucks to show venue
  • Perform freight audits/prior year drayage comparisons
  • Perform billing transfers
  • Run Core Freight reports during and after show
  • Support other Freight Operations Staff as needed
  • Keep Managers informed on all issues.
  • Assist with freight inquiries
  • Uphold high standard departmental relations and service levels
Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Demonstrable leadership ability
  • Must be proficient in MS Office programs and have strong typing/data entry skills
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines with little supervision
  • Must be able to perform work in office setting and on trade show floor in varied conditions and elements
  • Must be able to prioritize tasks and responsibilities to meet deadlines and to complete highest priorities first.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Two to three years in a customer service environment
  • Two to three years of experience in the convention industry highly preferred
  • Work is performed frequently in a somewhat crowded or noisy area where there may be mild discomfort due to temperature, dust or other conditions.
  • Must be able to work extended hours based on schedule- includes weekends and evenings
  • Job requires walking, bending, handling, reaching, grasping, lifting 25+ lbs., and repetitive motions
  • Job requires long hours during show runs with varying stop and start time both early AM and late PM
  • Requires working alone at times and also with others in a team atmosphere
  • Will work with and report to multiple managers both in a city and national level
