Job summary

St. Norbert College invites applications for a Marketplace Shift Supervisor. This role provides operational support to Ruth’s Marketplace during the absence of the Manager and P.M.

Assistant Manager. It is a working supervisor role, training and guiding 10–12 student workers per shift, with responsibilities spanning meal service, safety, and housekeeping. Regular hours are Monday–Friday, 12:00 pm–8:30 pm, with rotating weekends every 5–6 weeks.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• 2 years of retail or institutional food service experience.
• 1 year of supervisory and cash handling experience.
• Ability to obtain ServSafe Manager certification upon hire.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
• Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to multitask, prioritize, and meet deadlines.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficiency in basic math computations.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Google applications, with ability to learn new systems.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and direct student employees on the Marketplace.
• Oversee meal service using standardized procedures and safe equipment practices.
• Train and cross-train student employees across marketplace, dish room, and seating areas.
• Support summer conference and catering operations.
• Clean and sanitize all work areas and equipment.
• Close out meal service and secure operations, handle cash deposits.
• Maintain readiness by setting up/breaking down service areas and managing inventory.
