Position Summary

The Director of Marketing will lead the strategic development, execution, and optimization of integrated marketing and communications initiatives designed to increase brand awareness, audience engagement, and organizational impact.

This role oversees brand strategy, digital marketing, content development, public relations, storytelling, and product marketing efforts aligned with the organization’s mission and growth goals. The Director will work closely with executive leadership and cross-functional teams to create compelling campaigns and communications that strengthen visibility, inspire engagement, and support long-term growth.

Brand Strategy & Leadership
  • Lead the development and evolution of a compelling, mission-centered brand that inspires engagement and trust.
  • Ensure consistency and integrity across all messaging, communications, campaigns, and visual identity.
  • Serve as a strategic partner to executive leadership, contributing to organizational growth and visibility initiatives.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with leadership, product, development, and program teams to align marketing strategies with organizational priorities.
  • Champion innovative marketing approaches that strengthen audience connection and brand influence.
Mission-Driven Marketing & Communications
  • Lead integrated marketing and communications strategies that elevate the organization’s mission, programs, impact, and thought leadership.
  • Design and execute multi-channel campaigns that support engagement, donor growth, customer acquisition, and retention.
  • Oversee storytelling initiatives that communicate impact in authentic, compelling, and emotionally resonant ways.
  • Manage and optimize email, SMS, digital, and social media campaigns to increase engagement and conversion.
  • Develop and oversee public relations efforts, including media outreach, press releases, executive visibility opportunities, and strategic partnerships.
  • Lead content creation efforts across web, social, presentations, campaigns, and stakeholder communications.
  • Build audience journeys from awareness through advocacy, ensuring cohesive messaging across all touchpoints.
  • Lead product marketing initiatives in partnership with Product and Program teams to support growth and adoption.
  • Develop positioning, messaging, and go-to-market strategies that clearly communicate value and impact.
  • Create compelling product narratives, case studies, customer stories, and marketing collateral for key audiences.
  • Conduct market research and competitive analysis to identify growth opportunities and strengthen market positioning.
  • Develop thought leadership campaigns, white papers, reports, webinars, and digital content that establish market credibility and awareness.
  • Support strategic launches, campaigns, and awareness initiatives that drive engagement and visibility.
Analytics & Performance
  • Establish KPIs and provide regular reporting on campaign effectiveness, engagement, growth, and ROI.
  • Use analytics, CRM platforms, and marketing tools to optimize campaign performance and inform strategic decisions.
  • Continuously evaluate and improve marketing effectiveness through testing, learning, and innovation.
  • Creative, innovative, and energized by mission‑driven work.
  • Comfortable leveraging AI tools and emerging technologies to improve marketing effectiveness and scalability.
Technology & Digital Strategy
  • Oversee website performance, digital platforms, analytics, and marketing automation systems.
  • Stay current on emerging trends in marketing, communications, AI, and digital engagement.
  • Identify tools and technologies that improve efficiency, scalability, and marketing performance.
  • Lead, mentor, and support marketing team members, consultants, and creative partners.
  • Foster a collaborative, innovative, and mission-focused team culture.
  • Manage marketing budgets, timelines, priorities, and deliverables.
  • Support organization-wide initiatives and contribute to a positive, values-driven environment.
  • Ability to travel as needed.
Education & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree required; degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, Public Relations, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum 5+ years of progressive experience in marketing, communications, brand strategy, or related leadership roles.
  • Experience leading integrated, multi-channel marketing campaigns with measurable results.
  • Experience in nonprofit, social impact, mission-driven, or purpose-led organizations strongly preferred.
  • Experience in digital marketing, storytelling, audience engagement, and brand growth.
  • Product marketing or technology platform experience is a plus.
  • Experience managing teams, consultants, agencies, or cross-functional collaborations.
Required Skills & Abilities
  • Exceptional storytelling and communication skills — written, verbal, and visual.
  • Strong understanding of digital marketing, branding, CRM systems, analytics, SEO, and social media strategy.
  • Experience with marketing automation, email campaigns, website management, and campaign optimization.
