DESCRIPTION:

The Goulston & Storrs Strategic Growth Team is seeking a Marketing & Communications Manager to play a critical role in enhancing the firm’s visibility, reputation, and business development efforts- particularly during an exciting period of brand evolution and digital transformation. As the firm launches a brand refresh and new website, this individual will lead the development and execution of strategic marketing and communications initiatives that bring the brand to life across all channels.

This position requires a blend of strategic thinking, exceptional writing, project management, and cross-functional collaboration. The ideal candidate is a self-motivated and collaborative leader with a deep commitment to excellence in the workplace, exceptional attention to detail, and a deep understanding of professional services branding. This person thrives in a fast-paced environment, can quickly think on their feet, is creative and determined, and demonstrates the ability to think outside of the box. This position requires a high energy level, a willingness to work long hours, and occasional business travel.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Strategic Planning & Execution

  • Collaborate with firm leadership, attorneys, team members, and external partners to plan and execute integrated marketing and communications strategies across paid, owned, and earned channels.
  • Develop and implement an annual marketing and communications plan with key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Serve as a brand steward, ensuring consistent application of visual identity and messaging across all media.

Brand & Website Rollout

  • Serve as a key project lead for the firm’s new website and brand rollout —coordinating with internal stakeholders, outside vendors, and creative partners.
  • Develop and manage internal and external communications plans to support the launch, including messaging frameworks, FAQs, leadership announcements, and firmwide updates.
  • Draft and edit brand-aligned content for the website, including new practice descriptions, attorney bios, and service narratives.
  • Ensure smooth adoption of new brand guidelines across all marketing collateral, digital channels, and firm documents.
  • Lead internal education efforts to equip attorneys and staff with tools and language to confidently represent the new brand.
  • Coordinate accolade and awards submissions; mine for strategic storytelling opportunities and work with internal and external partners to create and distribute corresponding content
  • Champion and leverage existing technology programs, including CRM, to enhance marketing and business development activities; identify and implement new innovation as needed.

Content Development & Management

  • Lead content strategy and oversee creation of client alerts, newsletters, attorney bios, thought leadership pieces, and social media content.
  • Partner with attorneys to develop client-centric messaging, highlighting the firm’s capabilities and experience.

Awards & Rankings Submissions

  • Manage the firm’s awards and directory submissions process (e.g., Chambers, Best Lawyers, Legal 500, Law360), ensuring timely and strategic nominations that align with the firm’s positioning and priorities.
  • Collaborate with attorneys and practice leaders to gather relevant experience, craft compelling narratives, and tailor submissions to highlight the firm’s differentiators.
  • Develop and maintain a submission calendar; track deadlines, outcomes, and feedback to inform future improvements.
  • Promote wins internally and externally, amplifying recognition across website, social media, and newsletters as part of the brand storytelling strategy.

Internal Communications; Media Relations & PR

  • Support firm-wide internal communications, including leadership updates and other firm announcements, intranet content, and internal campaigns with high-quality, on-brand messaging.
  • Lead internal communications that support culture-building and engagement around the brand transition.
  • Partner with HR, IT, and Operations on firmwide rollout logistics, including templates, training, and intranet updates.
  • Identify media opportunities and manage relationships with legal and industry trade press.
  • Draft and distribute press releases; track media coverage and key metrics.

Digital Marketing

  • Manage updates and ongoing content strategy for the firm’s new website, including SEO best practices and analytics tracking.
  • Manage the firm’s social media presence; guide firmwide use of social media to amplify the new brand and website launch, and promote strategic content.
  • Liaise with external vendors on campaign tracking, reporting, and optimization.

Events & Sponsorships

  • Manage the planning and execution of firm events for clients, prospects, and other key contacts via events, webinars, and sponsorships, ensuring consistent branding and strong audience engagement.

Metrics & Reporting

  • Track engagement metrics across digital platforms and contribute to ROI analysis for marketing efforts.
  • Establish and adhere to department budget; seek opportunities to improve department efficiency and reduce expenses by streamlining operations.
  • Facilitate the development of staff by providing opportunities and support; deliver timely feedback on work product; regularly coach, evaluate, and recognize staff performance and accomplishments.

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, or a related field.
  • 8 years of progressively responsible experience in professional services communications, with at least 4 years in a leadership role managing people and projects.
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills.
  • Strong understanding of digital marketing, SEO, and content strategy.
  • Proven experience developing and implementing integrated marketing and communications strategies.
  • Collaborative mindset and the ability to work effectively across functions and seniority levels with personal credibility, professionalism, and a high degree of integrity.
  • Proficient with tools such as MailChimp, Sprout Social, Sanity, project management platforms, and CRM systems.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, team building, interpersonal, and customer service skills are essential.
