Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent experience required; sanitation coursework helpful.
• Over one year of related work experience required.

Responsibilities

• Set and uphold department standards for customer service, employee relations, cleanliness, sanitation, professional appearance, and overall profitability.
• Lead by example, greeting customers warmly, learning their names, and creating a friendly, welcoming atmosphere throughout the department.
• Recruit, hire, train, supervise, discipline, and evaluate all department employees; approve employee discipline and recommend transfers, discharge, and salary increases.
• Determine department goals with the Store Director and establish weekly schedules and daily work plans.
• Inspect signage and displays for quality and quantity of merchandise and order product for replenishment.
• Figure retail pricing, extend and post invoices, and oversee department bookkeeping procedures.
• Analyze weekly and monthly sales trends, compare to actuals, prepare ad projections, and write ads.
• Plan displays, promotions, and pre-orders and conduct department inventory.
• Ensure proper temperatures and storage procedures are maintained to guarantee product freshness and control shrink.
• Understand and troubleshoot equipment and ensure maintenance is performed as needed.
• Work closely with Restaurant and Service staff and communicate sales ideas and updates to the team.
• Unload trucks, check in delivered merchandise, and place product in appropriate storage areas.
• Ensure competitive pricing in the market area and attend meetings, seminars, and continuing education as needed.
• Maintain strict adherence to personal hygiene, dress standards, and all Hy-Vee policies and store guidelines.
• Report to work when scheduled and on time.
