Job summary

Hy-Vee is seeking Market Grille Clerks to deliver prompt, friendly service at the Market Grille counter. You will take orders, manage daily prep, ensure food safety, and maintain a clean, efficient work area while supporting a team-focused store environment.

Ideal candidates will have a customer-first mindset, enjoy working with food, and be capable of multi-tasking in a fast-paced retail setting. Training is provided and policies are prioritized.

Qualifications

• No education requirement; training provided.
• Six months or less of similar or related work experience; prior food service experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Provide prompt, friendly customer service, greeting customers with a smile, learning their names, and going the extra mile to make every visit a positive one
• Take customer orders at the Market Grille counter and answer the telephone promptly, providing helpful service including taking product orders
• Review daily orders, anticipate product needs, and prepare and replenish product as necessary
• Pull product from the cooler or freezer to prepare for cooking and ensure an adequate food supply is ready and on hand
• Handle food safely and review the status and appearance of food for freshness at all times
• Maintain a clean, sanitary work area throughout your shift
• Check in product, put product away, and review invoices as needed
• Run the department register, receive payment, and make change where applicable
