Job summary

Hy-Vee is seeking a Market Grille Clerk to deliver exceptional customer service at the Market Grille counter. You will greet customers, take orders, and ensure food is prepared safely and promptly while maintaining a clean, organized work area.

The role emphasizes teamwork, accuracy with cash handling, and a friendly, can-do attitude to help keep the store running smoothly throughout shifts.

Qualifications

• No formal education requirement; on-the-job training provided.
• Six months or less of similar or related work experience; prior food service experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Provide prompt, friendly customer service, greeting customers with a smile, learning their names, and going the extra mile to make every visit a positive one.
• Take customer orders at the Market Grille counter and answer the telephone promptly, providing helpful service including taking product orders.
• Review daily orders, anticipate product needs, and prepare and replenish product as necessary.
• Pull product from the cooler or freezer to prepare for cooking and ensure an adequate food supply is ready and on hand.
• Handle food safely and review the status and appearance of food for freshness at all times.
• Maintain a clean, sanitary work area throughout your shift.
• Check in product, put product away, and review invoices as needed.
• Run the department register, receive payment, and make change where applicable.
• Remove trash in a timely manner and wash dishes as necessary.
• Price and order product and deliver orders as needed.
• Work with co-workers as a team to ensure customer satisfaction and a pleasant work environment.
• Assist in other areas of the store as needed and take on special projects as assigned.
• Maintain strict adherence to personal hygiene, dress standards, and all Hy-Vee policies and store guidelines.
• Report to work when scheduled and on time.
