Job summary

South Texas Health System is seeking an experienced executive to oversee the freestanding emergency departments across the market. You will implement policies, train staff, manage budgets, and drive strategies to meet or exceed budgeted performance.

You will work closely with EMS providers, medical leaders, and community physicians to promote service excellence and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

• 3–5+ years of progressive management in acute care, including ED or FED oversight.
• Detail oriented with focus on multi‑site operations nuances.
• Knowledge of nursing clinical practices and management in FED/hospital/outpatient settings.
• Extensive knowledge of nursing and patient care activities.
• Strong supervisory skills with clear written and verbal communication.
• Able to communicate with physicians, managers and staff effectively.
• Understand budgeting and forecasting for departments/projects.
• Commitment to STHS Compliance Program and Code of Conduct.
• Knowledge of regulatory requirements (TJC, CMS, TX) for surveys.

Responsibilities

• Ensure efficient operation of FEDs per policies and procedures.
• Coordinate policy rollout, staff training, and hiring/retention.
• Prepare and manage capital and operating budgets; perform business analysis.
• Analyze market dynamics and implement keepage strategies to meet budgets.
• Maintain open communication with providers, Medical Director, and EMS partners.
• Align services with mission, vision, and regulatory requirements; participate in strategic planning.
