Job summary

Port Newark Container Terminal LLC is seeking a Yard/Gate Assistant Operations Manager to supervise yard and gate operations, ensuring safe, efficient labor performance and timely service for vessel, gate, and truck line customers.

You will align staff with the plan, monitor fleet of straddle carriers, enforce SOPs, safety practices, and coordinate with the Yard Manager on issues that impact productivity and customer satisfaction.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in any discipline; or High School Diploma/GED equivalent AND 4+ years of management experience
• Obtain and maintain Transportation Workers Identification Card (TWIC)
• Valid US Driver's License

Responsibilities

• Supervises yard/gate operations according to the plan and ensures productivity.
• Monitors fleet of straddle carriers and tracks KPI’s.
• Instructs and ensures labor follows safe working practices and SOPs.
• Provides regular feedback and supervision to staff.
• Coordinates with Yard Manager on complex issues impacting operations.
• Handles container allocation and movement of empties as needed.
• Interacts with customers and regulatory agencies to resolve issues.
