Job summary

Safe Harbor Marinas, Buzzards Bay, MA, seeks a Boat Technician (mechanic) to inspect, maintain and repair boats of all kinds using diagnostic equipment. You will test engines, hulls, propellers, rigging, and navigational gear, and install sanitation and electrical systems.

Candidates should have a high school diploma, 5 years’ experience, and ABYC or manufacturer certifications preferred; must carry own tools and be able to lift 50 pounds; overtime availability.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• ABYC and/or manufacturer certifications preferred.
• 5 years’ experience preferred.
• Must possess own tools.
• Experience with outboards, gas and diesel engines preferred.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, maintain, and repair boats of all kinds.
• Utilize diagnostic equipment to test and repair boat engines, hulls, propellers, rigging, and navigational equipment.
• Install and test sanitation and refrigeration systems, cabinetry, electrical systems, steering gear, and accessories.
• Troubleshoot, test, repair, replace, remove and install vessel systems and components.
• Conduct thorough assessment prior to starting a job including; acknowledging the budgeted time and time frame for completion, proving the system and the element requiring service, sourcing parts if required.
