Job summary

Goodwin marine Offshore is seeking a vessel engineer/deckhand to perform maintenance and repair of the vessel’s mechanical, electrical, plumbing and hydraulic systems. You will ensure equipment readiness, carry out preventive maintenance, troubleshoot issues, and operate hydraulic equipment such as winches and deck cranes, while coordinating with the captain and crew.

The role requires strong technical expertise, maritime experience, and the ability to manage inventory, conduct safety

Qualifications

  • Marine or vessel engineer experience on commercial vessels.
  • STCW certification preferred.
  • TWIC card preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and plumbing systems.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve equipment failures to keep the vessel fully operational.
  • Operate, inspect, and maintain hydraulic winches, cranes, and other deck equipment.
  • Maintain and service engines and auxiliary equipment.
  • Conduct routine engine room inspections and maintain accurate maintenance logs.
  • Assist with vessel operations, deck work, and cargo handling as needed.
  • Manage spare parts, tools, and maintenance inventory.
  • Perform safety inspections and ensure compliance with company and regulatory standards.

Overview

Goodwin marine Offshore has an immediate position open for a vessel engineer/deckhand to perform maintenance and repair of the vessel’s mechanical, electrical, plumbing and hydraulic systems. The role involves ensuring equipment readiness for vessel operations, performing preventive maintenance, troubleshooting issues, and operating hydraulic equipment such as winches and deck cranes and rigging. The position requires strong technical expertise, critical thinking, and maritime experience. The Engineer will collaborate closely with the captain and crew, manage inventory, conduct safety inspections, and maintain detailed operational logs, effectively balancing ship operations with the specific demands of maritime work.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and service Caterpillar and Detroit Diesel engines and auxiliary equipment.
  • Conduct routine engine room inspections and maintain accurate maintenance logs.
  • Assist with vessel operations, deck work, and cargo handling as needed.
  • Manage spare parts, tools, and maintenance inventory.
  • Perform safety inspections and ensure compliance with company and regulatory standards.
  • Work closely with the Captain and crew to support safe and efficient vessel operations.
  • Respond to mechanical issues underway and perform emergency repairs when necessary.
Minimum Qualifications

Previous experience as a marine or vessel engineer on commercial vessels.

Preferred Qualifications
  • STCW
  • Valid TWIC card
