Job summary

Massachusetts Maritime Academy seeks a Port Engineer to assist with maintenance and overhauls on company managed vessels under the supervision of the Port Engineer. The role is based in Houston, TX, and involves overseeing engineering changes, modernization packages, and related activities.

Ideal candidates will hold a USCG Second Engineer Licensed (Unlimited HP); shoreside work can be considered. Must be a US citizen and able to obtain a Secret clearance to support vessel operations.

Qualifications

• Requires US citizenship and ability to obtain Secret clearance.
• Minimum one year experience as Port Engineer managing at least one shipyard dry-docking with value > $3M.
• Experience aboard ocean-going ships ≥ 4,000 HP as First/Second Engineer.

Responsibilities

• Assist with maintenance and overhauls on company managed vessels under the supervision of the Port Engineer.
• Monitor and analyze ship performance; support IMS documentation, implementation, and improvement per IMS policies.
• Assist with marine engineering projects including overhauls and other maintenance/repairs; prepare work specs and cost estimates.
