Job description

LHH is working with an industry leader in maritime shipping, shipbuilding & management, and terminal operations, who is looking for a Maritime Operations Manager to join their team. The ideal candidate will have 5 years of experience in marine transportation, experience with vessel stability, and container operations experience.   • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret business publications, professional journals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations.
  • Strong written communication skills, including the ability to prepare reports, business correspondence, and procedural documentation.
  • Effective verbal communication skills with the ability to present information and respond to questions from senior leadership, management teams, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Proficiency in basic mathematical functions, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
  • Demonstrated ability to solve practical problems and manage multiple variables in environments with limited standardization.
  • Ability to interpret and follow instructions provided in written, verbal, and scheduling formats.
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is preferred.
Education & Experience Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Logistics, Maritime Studies, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in the marine transportation industry, with working knowledge of vessel liner service, breakbulk operations, containerized shipping, intermodal transportation, and/or cargo loading.
  • Proven experience in container operations, including ship stability, cargo loading and planning, and the use of related software systems.
  • Familiarity with Cargo Max, Mainsail 10, Spinnaker, and Traffic Control systems is preferred.
  • Certifications such as Hazardous Materials, VSO/FSO, CTL/CLTD, or CPE are preferred.
