Job summary

BWX Technologies, Inc. seeks a senior Civil Maritime Licensing/Regulatory Lead to drive licensing strategies for maritime reactor technologies.

You will collaborate with engineering, commercialization, and project teams to ensure regulatory requirements are identified and integrated into technology and projects. On-site in Lynchburg, VA or remote, the role requires US citizenship, a engineering degree, and strong leadership to guide complex regulatory processes and engage with multiple

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering (nuclear, mechanical, civil, marine, environmental).
• Minimum 7 years of experience in nuclear licensing within a U.S. framework (NRC/DOE/DoD).
• Ability to serve as a subject-matter lead guiding teams through regulatory/licensing processes.
• Experience in design, evaluation, and development of nuclear systems.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong relationships and collaboration with internal/external stakeholders.
• U.S. Citizen and ability to obtain/maintain DOE/DOD security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement project licensing plans for floating nuclear plants and civil nuclear-electric propulsion, focused on the U.S. framework.
• Coordinate licensing deliverables and regulatory documents for engagement and review.
• Develop regulatory strategies addressing technical and programmatic issues in maritime reactor tech.
• Lead development and defense of licensing basis for reactor technologies and customer projects.
• Collaborate with engineering to integrate regulatory requirements into designs.
• Support testing programs to ensure regulatory compliance.
• Lead regulatory discussions and manage budgets and schedules for regulatory outcomes.
• Coordinate with stakeholders including maritime authorities and classification societies.
• Perform general office duties as assigned.
