Job summary

Austal USA is seeking Engineering Interns in Mobile, Alabama, to work with experienced professionals on design, development, and execution of maritime solutions. You'll support mechanical design for ship systems, perform basic calculations, and help create technical documentation.

Candidates are pursuing a Bachelor's in Engineering or Naval Architecture, with minimum GPA 2.0, and should be eager to learn, collaborate in a fast-paced production environment, and communicate technical issues

Qualifications

• Pursuing Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Naval Architecture.
• Minimum 2.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale.
• Completed second semester of discipline-specific Engineering/Naval Architecture curriculum.

Responsibilities

• Assist in design, development, and execution of maritime solutions.
• Support mechanical design and analysis for ship systems.
• Perform basic engineering calculations.
• Create, change, or maintain technical documentation.
• Interact with suppliers on engineering inquiries.
• Contribute to cost saving activities and generate reports.
• Support field surveys and field-related tasks.
• Contribute to project deliverables including cost, reliability, and manufacturability.
