Job summary

Global Satcoms seeks a Maritime IT Field Service Technician to deliver on-site support for maritime clients. You will install, commission, maintain, and troubleshoot satellite communication systems and IT infrastructure aboard vessels and offshore platforms.

Role requires hands-on IT system integration, network setup, cybersecurity checks, and collaboration with NOC teams. Travel globally on short notice is expected, with strong communication and safety compliance throughout assignments.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of experience in field engineering or maritime IT support.
• Knowledge of maritime VSAT, L-band, and hybrid satellite systems.
• Solid understanding of TCP/IP networking, VLANs, VPNs, and cybersecurity practices.
• Familiarity with maritime regulations (IMO, ISPS) and onboard IT environments.
• Ability to read technical diagrams and interpret system schematics.
• Strong communication, documentation and customer service skills.
• Fluent in English; additional languages are a plus.
• Valid seafarer’s medical (ENG1 or equivalent) and willingness to travel globally on short notice.

Responsibilities

• Conduct field installations, upgrades and commissioning of satellite systems (VSAT, Starlink, L-band).
• Perform IT systems integration including onboard LAN/WAN setup, IP networking, and firewall configuration.
• Provide hands-on technical support for onboard IT systems (routers, switches, servers, Wi-Fi, IoT).
• Collaborate with NOC teams and remote engineering support to diagnose connectivity issues.
• Complete site surveys, service reports, and handover documents per Global Satcoms standards.
• Ensure safety protocols and client requirements are followed during onboard interventions.
• Coordinate travel, tools and spare parts with vessel agents and logistics teams.
• Provide customer training and onboard support during handover when needed.
