Job summary

TOTE Services LLC is seeking an experienced Human Resources Business Partner for Fleet to guide HR strategy and operations across our managed fleet. You will collaborate with vessel and shoreside leadership, lead recruitment and development, and address employee relations while ensuring regulatory compliance.

The role emphasizes data-driven decision making, workforce engagement, and strategic alignment with business goals across union and non-union environments.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of HR experience, preferably in a maritime or labor union setting.
• Strong advisory and influencing skills across all levels.
• Excellent communication skills, including presentation and facilitation.
• Proactive problem solver with a focus on organizational agility.
• Analytical mindset to interpret workforce data and inform HR strategies.
• Detail-oriented and organized, able to manage multiple priorities.
• High integrity in handling sensitive information.
• Team player who can work independently in a dynamic environment.
• Solid knowledge of employment laws at local, state, and federal levels.
• Understanding of organizational structures, job functions, and compensation.
• Proficient in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and HRIS systems.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a trusted advisor to leadership, aligning HR initiatives with business goals.
• Lead recruitment, development, and retention efforts, including succession planning and performance management.
• Address workplace concerns, conduct investigations, and ensure compliance with laws and union agreements.
• Drive engagement, training, and development initiatives across the fleet and sites.
• Oversee onboarding, crewing, and HR policy implementation; ensure regulatory compliance.
• Analyze workforce trends and HR metrics to inform policies and processes.
• Travel ~25% to industry events and site visits to engage union and non-union employees.
• Perform other duties that support department and organizational goals.
