Job summary

Hornblower Group is seeking a Field Safety & Quality Manager for the greater New York/New Jersey area. You will lead safety initiatives in the field, conduct vessel visits, audits, and coaching to ensure compliance and high performance.

The role requires extensive travel regionally and collaboration across Operations, Engineering, and HR to sustain a safe, compliant, and high-quality fleet. Strong maritime expertise and USCG knowledge are essential.

Qualifications

• Maritime degree or equivalent experience.
• Five+ years in marine operations, safety, quality, or regulatory compliance.
• Knowledge of USCG regulations for passenger vessel operations.
• Experience conducting audits, inspections, or operational assessments.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent organizational and analytical skills.
• Ability to influence without direct authority; proficient in Microsoft Office.
• Frequent regional NYC/NJ area travel.
• Ability to board vessels via gangways and ladders.

Responsibilities

• Provide field safety leadership and coaching to crews and shore staff.
• Conduct field audits and inspections of vessels, terminals and facilities.
• Verify compliance with USCG regulations, company policies and SMS.
• Identify gaps and implement corrective actions; track actions to completion.
• Prepare inspection reports and document findings clearly.
• Partner with Operations, Engineering, and HR on improvements.
• Support regulatory inspections and special safety projects.
