Job summary

HMM America seeks a detail-oriented shipping documents clerk to manage export cargo manifests and ensure accurate documentation for sailings. You will respond to customer inquiries via phone, email, and live chat, coordinating with shippers, forwarders, and overseas offices daily.

The role requires basic math, strong organization, and the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced logistics environment. A HS diploma is required; logistics experience is preferred. Competitive benefits offered.

Qualifications

• Detail oriented and self-directed.
• Good communication skills both verbal and written.
• Basic Mathematics.
• Ability to multi task.
• Good organizational skills.
• General understanding of container business and terminal activity.
• High School diploma or GED required; college degree in logistics preferred but not required.
• Previous experience in the shipping industry preferred.

Responsibilities

• Send final copies of B/L upon vessel sailing and release.
• Print and release documents to shippers/forwarders.
• Handle COD including ROB & Return/Ship-Back.
• Pre-Filing Manifest submission for cargo sailing out of Canada, CAMS and AFR.
• Inter-department communications via verbal and written.
• Guide HMM Bond Usage and Close out In-Bond shipment after vessel sailing.
• e-Service Website Assistance for Web B/L customers.
• Send B/L papers based upon request.
• Approval process for Internet Original B/L registration.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
