Job summary

Orion is seeking a welding-yard support role in Mobile, AL. The candidate will perform welding, cutting, grinding, chipping, and related fabrication tasks on marine yard projects, following Foreman directions and safety procedures.

Responsibilities include reading scopes, obtaining permits, operating cutting and welding equipment, rigging, and coordinating with deck and crane teams. Heavy emphasis on safety, accuracy, and teamwork.

Qualifications

• Minimum of two years welding experience or equivalent training.
• Knowledge of welding trade practices and metal types used in marine construction.
• Ability to read welding blueprints and sketches.
• Capable of passing standard welding tests.
• Effective verbal communication and basic record-keeping.

Responsibilities

• Assist Welding Shop Foreman to complete projects.
• Cut, weld, chip, and grind metal as required.
• Operate oxy-acetylene cutting torch when needed.
• Rig cables for lifting and moving objects.
• Inspect and maintain welding equipment and report parts needs.
