Job summary

Orion, Inc. is seeking a welder to provide yard maintenance support in Tampa. You will weld, cut, grind, and chip metal for marine yard projects, working with foremen and deck captains to ensure safe, efficient completion.

Requires at least two years of welding experience, ability to pass welding tests, and familiarity with oxy-acetylene cutting and blueprints. You will use cranes, winches, and hand tools, while following company safety policies.

Qualifications

• Two years welding experience or equivalent combination of experience and training.
• Ability to pass standard welding tests demonstrating proficiency in stick welding in all positions.
• Familiarity with oxy-acetylene cutting equipment and related tasks.
• Ability to read welding blueprints and sketches and use hand/power tools.

Responsibilities

• Works as assigned by the Welding Shop Foreman to complete yard support projects.
• Gathers scope of work and obtains necessary permits before welding.
• Cuts, welds, chips, and grinds metal as required by the project.
• Uses oxygen-acetylene cutting torch to remove metal from structures.
• Welds sheet metal and piles in place.
• Operates equipment to rig cables for lifting and moving objects.
• Places steel plates and sheet piles with cranes, winches, and hand tools.
• Fabricates parts using saws, presses, drills, and grinders.
• Inspects and reports needed welding equipment parts for repairs.
• Stocks materials and supplies for projects.
• Collaborates with foremen and crew to safely complete projects.
