Job summary

Orion is seeking an experienced Welder to support our field construction operations throughout Southern Louisiana. You will perform hands-on welding and fabrication for marine and heavy civil infrastructure, working with pile drivers, carpenters, crane operators, and deck crews in active marine environments.

Qualifications

• Minimum of two (2) years welding experience or equivalent.
• Knowledge of welding trade practices and materials used in marine structures.
• Ability to pass standard welding tests demonstrating proficiency.
• Skill in stick rod welding in all positions and in using acetylene and arc welding equipment.

Responsibilities

• Works under the Welding Shop Foreman to complete marine yard projects.
• Gathers scope information and obtains necessary permits before welding.
• Cuts, welds, chips, and grinds metal as required by the project.
• Uses oxygen-acetylene torch to cut metal from beams or platforms.
• Welds sheet piles and joins metal pieces as pile driving is completed.
• Rigs cables for lifting and moving objects as needed.
• Operates saws, drills, and grinders to fabricate parts.
• Inspects welding equipment and reports repairs needed.
• Maintains supplies and coordinates with team to progress projects.
• Follows safety and environmental programs.
