Apprentices must maintain a cumulative GPA of 80%, be at least 18, and pass a pre‑employment drug screen and background check. Safety and teamwork are emphasized throughout the program.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 18 years of age or older at time of application.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.; work at heights up to 60 ft.; enter confined spaces using a respirator.
• Basic mathematical proficiency and knowledge of basic hand and power tools.
• Willingness to learn the trade and attend required training.
• Eligibility for state-certified apprenticeship program, including attending 144–216 classroom hours annually.

Responsibilities

• Learn to build vessel structures, fabricate and install piping, machinery, hull components, and prepare surfaces for painting or welding.
• Practice safe work practices and housekeeping procedures; work as a team member; communicate clearly.
• Record and track on-the-job training hours; obtain journeyman sign-off on hours weekly.
