Job summary

Trackline is seeking an experienced Marine Superintendent to oversee tanker operations from Houston, TX. The role focuses on safe, compliant performance of the tanker fleet with close collaboration between vessel masters and shore-based teams.

Ideal candidates are Master Mariner holders with significant tanker experience, strong leadership, and a deep understanding of SIRE, OCIMF, ISM, SOLAS, MARPOL and STCW requirements. International travel is expected to support vessel visits and audits.

Qualifications

• Master Mariner license or equivalent senior deck officer qualification.
• Experience on oil, product, or chemical tankers.
• Prior experience as Master or Chief Officer preferred.
• Strong knowledge of SIRE, OCIMF, ISM, SOLAS, MARPOL, STCW and tanker operations.
• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally.

• Monitor vessel safety, navigation, cargo operations, regulatory compliance, and overall operational performance.
• Assist with vetting inspections, port state control, class and flag inspections, and audits.
• Review vessel performance, incidents, deficiencies, and corrective actions.
• Coordinate with Masters and shore teams to maintain safety and readiness.
• Ensure compliance with ISM Code and maritime regulations.
• Support voyage and port-related operational matters.
• Participate in vessel visits, inspections, audits, and investigations.
• Identify operational risks and drive continuous improvement across the fleet.

Marine Superintendent – Tanker Operations

Location: Houston, TX

A leading international ship owner and operator is seeking an experienced Marine Superintendent to support the safe, efficient, and compliant operation of its tanker fleet. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced tanker deck officer looking to transition ashore or an established Marine Superintendent seeking to join a sophisticated global shipping organization.

Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day marine operational support and oversight for assigned vessels.
• Monitor vessel safety, navigation, cargo operations, regulatory compliance, and overall operational performance.
• Support vessels in preparing for SIRE inspections, vetting reviews, port state control, class and flag inspections, and internal/external audits.
• Review vessel performance, incidents, near misses, deficiencies, and corrective actions.
• Work closely with Masters and senior officers to maintain high standards of safety and operational readiness.
• Ensure compliance with company procedures, the ISM Code, applicable maritime regulations, and industry best practices.
• Assist with voyage and port-related operational matters and provide guidance to vessels when required.
• Participate in vessel visits, inspections, audits, and investigations.
• Coordinate with technical, commercial, HSSEQ, vetting, and other shore-based teams.
• Identify operational risks and drive continuous improvement across the assigned fleet.

Qualifications

• Master Mariner of Tankers / Unlimited Master license or equivalent senior deck officer qualification strongly preferred.
• Significant sailing experience aboard oil, product, or chemical tankers.
• Previous experience as Master or Chief Officer strongly preferred.
• Shore-based experience as a Marine Superintendent, Marine Operations Manager, Vetting Superintendent, or similar role is advantageous but not necessarily required for a strong senior sailing candidate.
• Strong knowledge of SIRE, OCIMF requirements, ISM, SOLAS, MARPOL, STCW, and tanker operations.
• Strong communication and leadership skills with the ability to work effectively with vessel and shore-based personnel.
• Ability to travel domestically and internationally for vessel visits and operational requirements.
