Job summary

JR ORION SERVICES PTE. LTD. in Singapore is seeking an Assistant Technical Superintendent to support the safe, reliable and efficient operation of vessels under our management.

This role is suitable for a seagoing Marine Engineer looking to move ashore, including junior engineers with relevant tanker experience. Key duties include supervising vessel maintenance, PMS activities, repairs, and dry-docking planning, plus liaising with Class society and service providers.

Qualifications

• Seagoing experience as a Marine Engineer onboard oil/chemical/product tankers.
• Junior engineer ranks encouraged to apply.
• Experience in shipyard or vessel repair considered.
• Certificate of Competency (Marine Engineer) is advantageous.
• Knowledge of ship machinery, maintenance and safety requirements.
• Good communication and coordination skills.
• Ability to work independently and travel when required.
• Strong MS Office skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Technical Manager/Superintendent in day-to-day technical management of vessels.
• Monitor maintenance, repairs and PMS activities.
• Provide technical support to Masters and Chief Engineers.
• Attend vessels and supervise repairs, maintenance and troubleshooting.
• Liaise with Classification Societies, Flag State and service providers.
• Assist in planning of dry-docking, surveys and major repairs.
• Monitor machinery condition, defects and spare parts needs.
• Review vessel performance and energy efficiency data.
• Conduct vessel inspections and follow up deficiencies and corrective actions.
• Inspect hulls, tanks, machinery spaces and coatings during attendance.
• Assist in evaluating repair quotations and costs.
• Ensure compliance with Class/Flag State and SMS requirements.
• Prepare technical reports and record repairs and attendance.
• Travel overseas for vessel attendance, repairs, surveys and dry-docking as required.

Assistant Technical Superintendent

Location: Singapore

We are looking for an Assistant Technical Superintendent to join our Technical Department and support the safe, reliable and efficient operation of vessels under our management.

This position is suitable for a seagoing Marine Engineer looking to move ashore, including junior engineers with relevant oil tanker experience. Candidates with suitable shipyard or vessel repair experience are also welcome to apply.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist the Technical Manager/Superintendent in the day-to-day technical management of assigned vessels.


• Monitor vessel maintenance, repairs and Planned Maintenance System (PMS) activities.


• Provide technical support and guidance to Masters and Chief Engineers.


• Attend vessels and supervise repairs, maintenance and troubleshooting as required.


• Liaise with Classification Societies, Flag State, service providers, workshops and other relevant parties.


• Assist in planning and supervision of dry-docking, surveys and major repairs.


• Monitor machinery condition, defects, spare parts requirements and technical performance.


• Review vessel performance, including fuel consumption and machinery operational data.


• Conduct vessel inspections and follow up technical deficiencies and corrective actions.


• Inspect hull, ballast/cargo tanks, machinery spaces and coatings during vessel attendance and dry-docking.


• Assist in evaluating repair quotations, technical specifications and repair costs.


• Ensure vessels comply with applicable Class, Flag State, statutory and Company SMS requirements.


• Prepare technical reports and maintain proper records of repairs, surveys and vessel attendance.


• Travel overseas when required for vessel attendance, repairs, surveys and dry-docking.

Requirements

• Seagoing experience as a Marine Engineer onboard oil/chemical/product tankers. Candidates from junior engineer ranks are also encouraged to apply.


• Alternatively, relevant experience in a shipyard, vessel repair or marine engineering environment will be considered.


• Certificate of Competency (Marine Engineer) will be an advantage.


• Basic knowledge of ship machinery, maintenance, Class/statutory surveys and marine safety requirements.


• Good communication and coordination skills.


• Able to work independently as well as part of a small technical team.


• Willing to travel at short notice when required.


• Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office.


• Candidates with limited shore-based experience but with a good engineering foundation and willingness to learn are welcome.
