Job summary

Elite Workforce LLC is seeking a Marine Shipyard Foreman to oversee daily shipyard operations, supervise skilled trades personnel, and ensure all marine repair, maintenance, and construction activities are completed safely and efficiently to customer specifications.

The ideal candidate will have extensive shipyard experience in marine welding, fitting, dry-dock operations, and equipment management, with a strong focus on safety and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years supervisory experience in a marine shipyard.
  • Extensive knowledge in marine welding and fitting operations.
  • Strong understanding of ship repair, vessel maintenance and fabrication.
  • Experience coordinating dry-dock activities.
  • Ability to read blueprints and drawings.
  • Knowledge of safety practices and OSHA regulations.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Direct and supervise daily shipyard activities of trades personnel.
  • Plan and monitor work schedules to meet deadlines and budgets.
  • Oversee vessel repair, maintenance, fabrication and construction projects.
  • Coordinate dry-dock operations including vessel positioning and launching.
  • Ensure proper operation and maintenance of shipyard equipment.
  • Conduct safety meetings and site inspections.
  • Maintain records and reports for projects, safety, and equipment.
  • Train and mentor employees to promote safety and continuous improvement.
  • Coordinate with managers, customers, subcontractors for project execution.
  • Enforce shipyard safety policies and OSHA regulations.

Elite Workforce LLC is seeking an experienced Marine Shipyard Foreman to oversee daily shipyard operations, supervise skilled trades personnel, and ensure all marine repair, maintenance, and construction activities are completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with customer specifications. The ideal candidate will possess extensive shipyard experience with a strong background in marine welding, fitting, dry-dock operations, equipment management, and shipyard safety.

Job Requirements
Key Responsibilities
  • Direct and supervise daily activities of shipyard personnel, including welders, fitters, mechanics, machinists, and labor crews.
  • Plan, coordinate, and monitor work schedules to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
  • Oversee vessel repair, maintenance, fabrication, and construction projects.
  • Manage and coordinate dry-dock operations, including vessel positioning, blocking, launching, and related activities.
  • Ensure proper operation, inspection, and maintenance of shipyard equipment and machinery.
  • Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions and operational failures and implement corrective actions to minimize downtime.
  • Review work quality and ensure compliance with customer specifications, company standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Enforce all shipyard safety policies, procedures, and OSHA regulations.
  • Conduct safety meetings, job hazard analyses, and site inspections.
  • Coordinate with project managers, customers, subcontractors, and shipyard management to ensure effective communication and project execution.
  • Train, mentor, and evaluate employees while promoting a culture of safety and continuous improvement.
  • Maintain accurate records, reports, and documentation related to projects, safety, personnel, and equipment.
Required Qualifications
  • Minimum of 5 years of supervisory experience in a marine shipyard environment.
  • Extensive knowledge and hands-on experience in marine welding and fitting operations.
  • Strong understanding of ship repair, vessel maintenance, and marine fabrication processes.
  • Experience operating and coordinating dry-dock activities.
  • Thorough knowledge of shipyard equipment and facility operations.
  • Skilled Outside Machinist with experience in installation, maintenance, repair, and alignment of marine mechanical systems and equipment.
  • Proven ability to diagnose and troubleshoot equipment and operational failures.
  • Extensive knowledge of shipyard safety practices, OSHA regulations, and marine industry safety standards.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, specifications, and work instructions.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) strongly preferred.
  • Experience managing multiple ship repair projects simultaneously.
  • OSHA 30-Hour Certification or equivalent safety training.
  • First Aid/CPR Certification.
  • Knowledge of Coast Guard, ABS, and other applicable maritime regulations.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to work in outdoor marine environments and varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to climb ladders, work in confined spaces, and access vessel compartments.
  • Capable of lifting up to 50 pounds and performing physically demanding duties as required.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and climb for extended periods.
