Job summary

East Coast Repair & Fabrication is looking for a Welder Supervisor to oversee operations in their shipyard. The role demands strong leadership skills and the ability to manage personnel effectively while ensuring compliance with safety and environmental regulations.

Job Description

SEEKING WELDER SUPERVISOR FOR SHIPYARD WORK

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for assigning daily tasks to trade personnel assigned to him by the foreman.
  • Review, understand, and implement daily plans to maintain the production schedule while minimizing the impact to the budget.
  • Analyze and resolve day to day issues including personnel conflicts, safety concerns, quality issues, and material constraints.
  • Assess areas of concern prior to assigning personnel to a task and review the concerns with the personnel to implement a strategy to ensure compliance with all technical and safety requirements.
  • Submit condition reports either to the Foreman for review or directly to the Project Manager/Superintendent.
  • Hold daily safety refreshers with assigned personnel and maintain QA documentation as required for tasks being accomplished.
  • Attend daily on sight production meetings and report issues, concerns, and daily progress to the PM.
  • Responsible for the recruitment, training, supervision, and evaluation of department staff.
  • This position will also assure organizational compliance with all safety, quality, and environmental, state, local and federal regulations.
  • The Supervisor will also perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • High School diploma or GED required with three to five years related marine, shipyard or industrial experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Microsoft Office Software experience required.

Requires willingness to work a flexible schedule.

Must be able to tour all vessels, piers, docks, and work sites to perform the duties of this job. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision depth perception and ability to adjust focus. (Ability to view computer monitors without eye strain for extended periods of time).
