Martha's Vineyard Shipyard in Vineyard Haven, MA seeks a Service Writer to be the face of our service operations. This full-time, year-round role requires strong customer service and attention to detail.

You’ll prepare labor, parts, and repair estimates, track work through completion, and keep boat owners informed with timely updates.

Qualifications

Boat knowledge: Solid understanding of boats, marine systems, and shipyard terminology is required.
Tech-savvy: Comfortable navigating digital management software, inventory systems, and modern communication tools.
Detail-oriented & Organized: Exceptional tracking abilities to keep work orders accurate and projects moving smoothly.
Adaptable & Driven: Willing to take on new challenges and adjust as daily shipyard priorities evolve.

Responsibilities

First Contact: Act as the main point of contact for our customers, offering top-tier communication and welcoming service.
Estimating & Planning: Prepare detailed, accurate written estimates for labor, parts, and repairs.
Project Tracking: Follow work closely through every stage of service to ensure deadlines and high quality standards are met.
Customer Follow-Up: Maintain proactive, timely communication with boat owners regarding updates, approvals, and completion timelines.
