Job summary

MacGregor is seeking a Service Engineer in Norfolk, VA to perform repair, maintenance and service on critical marine equipment, including shipboard cranes and hatch covers. The role focuses on hydraulic and mechanical systems with travel for extended assignments as required.

Qualifications

• Technical education in electrical or mechanical disciplines.
• Minimum 3 years of hydraulic and mechanical experience.
• Basic electronics knowledge; PLC experience is a plus.
• Experience with ship and/or port cranes, winches.
• Willingness to travel for extended periods.
• Fluent in written and spoken English.

Responsibilities

• Diagnostics and troubleshooting of hydraulic and mechanical equipment.
• Supervise refurbishment, upgrades, inspections, preventative maintenance and corrective actions.
• Identify service and spares sales opportunities and communicate them to the line manager.
• Support overall service goals and budgets.
• Prepare detailed service reports and documentation for all work performed.
• Ensure that all activities comply with the Integrated Management System (IMS), QHSE and other MacGregor standards.
