Job summary

Garmin is seeking a Mechanical Engineer 2 for its Marine Product team at the U.S. headquarters in the Greater Kansas City area.

You will develop moderately complex mechanical solutions, test and validate designs, perform technology explorations, and help bring marine products to mass production. The role requires a Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering with 1 year of experience and proficiency in SolidWorks or OnShape.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering and 1 year relevant experience
  • GPA 3.0 or higher as a general guideline
  • Proficient in CAD software and modeling of moderately complex parts
  • Familiar with engineering tools and design reviews

Responsibilities

  • Complete moderately complex mechanical designs for Garmin or OEM products
  • Model complex parts as an expert CAD user
  • Participate in design reviews and provide comments on mechanical designs
  • Mockup and test basic mechanical systems to verify requirements
  • Estimate tooling, part cost and design time for basic designs
  • Communicate with vendors producing custom parts as needed
  • Specify test plans to validate moderately complex systems
  • Demonstrate knowledge of injection molding, die casting and sheet metal processes
  • Know common materials used for basic part production and performance
