Job summary

Garmin is seeking a Mechanical Engineer 2 for the Outdoor product team at Garmin's U.S. headquarters in the Greater Kansas City area.

The role focuses on developing moderately complex mechanical solutions, testing and validating, and delivering Outdoor products to mass production, including golf, hiking, and scuba accessories. The candidate will model parts in CAD, participate in design reviews, and coordinate with vendors.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering plus 1 year relevant experience or equivalent
Academic performance with GPA >= 3.0 is preferred
Proficient CAD skills and ability to model moderately complex parts
Proficient use of relevant engineering tools

Responsibilities

Complete moderately complex mechanical designs for Garmin or OEM products
Model complex parts as an expert CAD user
Participate in design reviews and provide feedback on mechanical designs
Mock up and test basic mechanical systems to verify design requirements
Estimate tooling, part cost and design time for basic designs
Communicate with vendors supplying custom mechanical parts
Specify test plans to validate moderately complex systems
Knowledge of injection molding, die casting, sheet metal stamping, machining processes
Demonstrate knowledge of preferred part materials
