Job summary

Garmin Ltd. is seeking a full-time Mechanical Engineer 2 for the Marine Product team at its U.S. headquarters in the Greater Kansas City area.

You will develop moderately complex mechanical solutions, test and validate designs, explore new technologies, and bring marine products to mass production. The role requires a Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering and related experience, with strong CAD skills in SolidWorks or OnShape, plus familiarity with common manufacturing processes.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent) and 1 year relevant experience or equivalent
  • GPA 3.0+ (as general guideline)
  • Proficient in CAD software and modeling moderately complex parts (SolidWorks or OnShape)
  • Proficient use of relevant engineering tools

Responsibilities

  • Complete moderately complex mechanical designs for Garmin or OEM products
  • Model complex parts as an expert CAD user
  • Participate in design reviews and provide feedback on mechanical designs
  • Mockup and test basic mechanical systems to verify design requirements
  • Estimate tooling, part cost and design time for basic designs
  • Communicate with vendors for custom parts
  • Specify test plans to validate moderately complex systems
  • Knowledge of injection molding, die casting, sheet metal stamping, machining processes
