Job Description

NSC Staffing is currently hiring Shipyard GTAW/TIG PIPE WELDERS for work located in Northeastern Wisconsin with occasional travel to Jacksonville, FL. Candidates must have 3-5 years of related pipe welding experience. Per diem is available for those who qualify.

Major Responsibilities (Functions/Duties):

Pipe Welders prepare and weld plates and fittings for various material types as specified by construction drawings and technical guidance documents. They must demonstrate the ability to pass GTAW/TIG welding tests on CuNi (copper nickel), Aluminum, Carbon Steel, and Stainless Steel in the 6G position.

Physical Tasks:

Must have the ability to climb vertical ladders up to 100 feet, enter confined and enclosed spaces, distinguish colors, kneel, stand, squat, crawl in and out of holes, walk up to 5 miles a day, climb stairs, sit, and reach. All physical requirements are classified as frequent. Must be medically capable of wearing a respirator.

Working Conditions:

The job is primarily performed on board vessels, ships, crafts, and barges; however, 5% of the work is completed shoreside in piping and electrical tunnels. May be exposed to extreme heat, cold, noise, heights, and confined spaces. Administrative tasks such as computer entry, record retention, and filing are performed in an office environment.
