Job summary

Eastern Shipbuilding Group, Inc. in Panama City, FL is seeking a skilled machinist to install propulsion machinery, sea valves, steering gear, anchor handling equipment, pumps, and ventilation systems.

You will plan, fabricate, and install foundations, set up machine tools, read blueprints, verify dimensions with precision instruments, and assemble parts into completed units. A strong mechanical aptitude and ABS welding certification are preferred, with safety-conscious approach required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; 3+ years in turning/milling in a machine shop environment.
• SMAW tack welding test required for ABS certification.
• Ability to read blueprints, schematics and layouts.
• Knowledge of ship terminology and OSHA/ABS standards.
• CNC experience desired.

Responsibilities

• Install propulsion machinery, sea valves, steering gear, anchor handling equipment, pumps, ventilating equipment, etc.
• Plan, fabricate, and install foundations.
• Set up and operate a variety of machine tools.
• Fit and assemble parts to make or repair machine tools and maintain industrial machines.
• Layout and verify dimensions with precision measuring instruments.
• Assemble parts into completed units using jigs, fixtures, and hand tools.
• Rig lifts and flag cranes as required.
