Job summary

Walashek Industrial & Marine Inc. is seeking a skilled Outside Machinist to install and service propulsion machinery, valves, steering gear and related equipment on ships. The role emphasizes reading blueprints, precision tooling, and safe handling of shop tools.

The ideal candidate has 3+ years of experience in marine outside machining, capable of working at heights, in confined spaces, and lifting up to 50 pounds. TWIC and background checks may be required.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience as a marine outside machinist or similar roles.
• Experience reading blueprints and schematic drawings.
• Ability to lift to 50 lbs consistently.
• Thorough knowledge of repairing motors, shafts, pumps and valves.

Responsibilities

• Overhaul, maintenance, testing of pumps, valves, turbines, condensers, shafts, rudders, winches.
• Set up and operate portable machining tools and equipment.
• Lays out passage holes on bulkheads, decks, and other surfaces for connections.
• Tests and inspects installed machinery and equipment during dock and sea trials.
• Install and repair foundations for operating machinery and ship armament components.
