Job summary

Illinois Marine Towing is seeking a Dispatcher to ensure smooth, safe logistics and vessel operations. The role requires proactive planning, clear communication, and incident prevention to meet customer expectations, reporting to the IMT Traffic Manager.

Responsibilities include coordinating with captains, maintaining customer accounts, and planning tows based on weather, boat size, and conditions. On-site Monday–Friday with on-call duties every third week including nights and weekends.

Qualifications

• Requires high school diploma or equivalent; associate/bachelor’s preferred or equivalent work experience.
• Marine industry knowledge and USCG regulations preferred.
• Logistics background required; able to work independently and in a team.

Responsibilities

• Maintain accurate customer accounts and provide timely delivery updates.
• Coordinate with vessel captains to update orders in real-time.
• Plan tows based on boat size, horsepower, and weather/water conditions.
• Optimize vessel movements and coordinate with docks and barge customers to prevent delays.
• Use Tow Works to create/manage orders and generate invoices.
